Mr. Bigsby & Mr. Cyrus

Animal Rescue

The hardest part of fostering is when adult cats lose their homes. Often times, it's because their owners are elderly and can no longer care for them. Sometimes, it's because their owners pass away. Recently, two adult cats, Bigsby & Cyrus, were been taken into foster care under Cause 4 Paws.

To describe these boys as forgiving would be an understatement.  These two boys define the term. They were adopted as tiny kittens by an elderly lady. She loved them and cared for them for 7 years. They received lots and lots of attention because their human mom stayed home most of the time and they were all that she had. Then, sometime in mid 2011, she passed away.

Despite the fact that these cats were all that she had, no one in the family was willing to take them in. The house was put up for sale and emptied of everything except these boys. Someone came in every few days and put down some food and cleaned the litter box, but no one paid any attention to them in the empty house. This went on for 3-4 months. Finally, the house was sold and the cats had to go. Still, no one was willing to give a home to the woman's companions of 7 years. Someone knew someone that contacted Cause 4 Paws and Bigsby and Cyrus are now safe.

These two boys have forgiven humankind for letting them languish for months on end in an empty house with no one to even give them a stroke on the back. Once they came into foster care, the effects of their abandonment were noticeable. They were afraid and huddled together in a corner. Now, they are out and about and get very excited when anyone comes to give them attention!

Bigsby & Cyrus are good reminders that animals are forgiving and really just looking for companionship and love.
