Llewellyn Jones hosts successful Charity Kickball Game

Llewellyn Jones, candidate for the Scotch Plains Town Council, held a kick ball event for charity on September 28, 2013 at 11:00 am at Brookside Park, Scotch Plains.

More than $1000 was raised for Resolve, a non-profit community counseling center serving Scotch Plains, Fanwood and Plainfield, as well as for Operation Shoebox New Jersey, an organization which collects non-perishable goods and forwards them to our troops serving overseas.

More than 2 dozen people came to the park to play kick ball and volley ball.  The weather was perfect.  Everyone had a lot of fun.  The children especially had a great time.

Not a cloud was in the sky and the temperature was in the seventies.  It was a beautiful morning to be outdoors in one of Scotch Plains’ wonderful parks.  The event started with an exciting game of kick ball on the baseball diamond.  The younger players moved around the bases with ease, greatly enjoying themselves.  The adults had some trouble keeping up with kids, but did redeem themselves a bit when taking their turn at bat.  The more energetic among the group followed up with a rousing game of volleyball.  The Jones campaign provided much needed water and snacks for the crowd.

Everyone enjoyed the games and the camaraderie as well as the opportunity to help two great organizations.
