Join the Fun of Girl Scouting

Fanwood and Scotch Plains girls in kindergarten to 12th grade can have fun all year long by becoming Girl Scouts. Girls enjoy activities with other girls of the same age while they learn by doing, make new friends, and learn about themselves and their world. During 2012 the Girl Scouts are celebrating their 100th anniversary.

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Community of Girl Scouts will hold an informational meeting for adults and girls interested in joining Girl Scouts on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the dining room of Fanwood Presbyterian Church (74 S. Martine Avenue, Fanwood).

Kindergarten and first-grade girls can join Daisy Girl Scouts. Older girls can join one of more than 90 Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scout troops, which span from kindergarten through high school. A registration fee of $24 per girl and $12 per adult volunteer will be collected at the meeting.

The formation of new troops, especially at the Daisy level, depends upon adults volunteering to be leaders. Girl Scouting needs caring adults to provide guidance and leadership to enable the girls of today to become the confident young leaders of tomorrow. Free training is provided for all adult volunteers, and ongoing support is abundantly available. Volunteers are also needed to help with short-term projects such as fun events, badge workshops and cookie sales.
