The Fanwood Police Department Annual Coat Drive for inner-city children begins today, Monday November 28. The coat drive is accepting new and gently used coats, for children ages three to sixteen as well as hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and socks.  For more information on this event,

Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools will be holding an Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Information Session for parents and guardians at Coles Elementary School today, Monday, November 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Coles School is located at 16 Kevin Road in Scotch Plains.

Evergreen School will be hosting a book fair, all day on Thursday, December 1. A regular public Board of Education meeting will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29.

K9 Resorts Day Spa and Luxury Hotel is holding a Comedy Night fundraiser at the Shackamaxon Country Club on Friday, December 2 to benefit the Scotch Plains Police Foundation. The event will feature comedians Chris Monty and Joe Moffa. There will be a cocktail hour from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by entertainment at 8 p.m. A number of local businesses have signed on as sponsors for this event. A 65 dollar ticket includes the comedy show, access to premium bar drinks as well as Hor’doeuvres.

Temple Sholom will begin its series Celebrate Shabbat Around the World with a Mexican Fiesta Shabbat dinner on Friday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Temple’s location in Fanwood Presbyterian Church’s Westminster Hall. This dinner will be organized by one of the sixth grade religious classes.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the ways in which Shabbat is celebrated in Mexico while enjoying music and delicious burritos from Qdoba Burrito Bar. The cost is 12 dollars for adults, eight dollars for children ages four to twelve, and free for children three and younger with a maximum cost of 40 dollars per family.
