Scotch Plains Deli Worker Dies When Medical Help Delayed at JFK Airport

Adekunle Ogunseye, who died in a NY hospital Saturday, was a Pentecostal minister and father of five who lived in Plainfield.

A Scotch Plains deli worker died Sunday after medical treatment he needed was delayed following a Delta Airlines flight at JFK Airport, according to the New York Post.

Adekunle Ogunseye, a 48-year-old Pentecostal minister, worked for a deli in Scotch Plains. He and his family resided in Plainfield.

Ogunseye was on a return trip from his father's funeral in Nigeria when he collapsed at JFK Airport in New York. It took four minutes to get assistance because law enforcement officers' secure access cards wouldn't work—two teams of emergency responders could not get to him, the article said. Ogunseye later died just after arriving at Jamaica Hospital by ambulance early Saturday morning.
