What's Really Happening at SPFHS?

I am a college student at Rutgers and I got wind of this incident via Instagram and took it upon myself to further investigate. I was saddened to find out that high school students are making comments towards each other that are fueled with hatred. The comments demeaned minorities and offended a large group of students who attended the school as well as who didn't. I stumbled upon the tweet and responses from friends and I was astounded. The student continued to tweet showed no remorse for the comments he made. Instead of retracting his comment he decided to use profanity towards other students and claim that, "If you're not black or gay you shouldn't be offended." He even went as far to say, "The gay people aren't mad so why are the African-Americans?" I noticed that people favorited the hateful tweets and was shocked to find out that they created some tweets themselves. One student went as far to refer to his African American peers as "Monkeys." The only apology that was posted on twitter by the student can be deemed as a joke because of the lack of remorse.  After observing all of this I want to know what the next step is. This separation amongst students at such a young age is disappointing, the school needs to educate so students understand the seriousness behind making comments like this. Is SPFHS going to let this situation be swept under the rug or are they going to fix it?
