Book Clubs Promote Summer Reading at Scotch Plains Library

Library offers opportunities for adults and teens to take a summer trek through the pages of books.

Sure, summer is about fun and sun, but the Scotch Plains Public Library is doing its part to ensure that teens and adults can vacation with good reads by hosting two summer reading book clubs.

As part of the “Beneath the Surface" teen summer reading program, the
library will hold a discussion of author Jeanne DuPrau's "The City of Ember." Following the book chat, the group will watch the PG-rated 2008 movie adaptation and eat pizza.

The book discussion and film viewing takes place Monday, July 29 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Adults get their own club as well. As part of the adult summer reading program “Groundbreaking Reads,” on Wednesday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m., the library offers a discussion of "The Age of Miracles" by Karen Thompson Walker.

To register for either book club and reserve a copy of the appropriate book, visit the library reference desk, call 908-322-5007, ext. 204, send an email request   or respond via the library website.
