Blotter: Ask, and Ye Shall Receive

The following arrest information was supplied by the Scotch Plains Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Westfield resident got what he asked for on Monday, June 25. Robert McCrea, 19, allegedly walked into the lobby of the , started yelling threats and obscenities at the dispatcher, and asked to be arrested, according to a press release distributed by the department. An officer obliged. He placed McCrea under arrest and charged him with disorderly conduct and, upon further investigation, underage possession of alcohol. McCrea was then processed and released.

Resident Reports Burglary

A resident of Mountain Avenue reported being a victim of burglary on Sunday, June 24. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle, which was unlocked and parked on his driveway, and removed a GPS unit. The device was valued at about $500. 

Resident Reports Theft

A resident told police Friday, June 22, that an unknown suspect or suspects stole his skateboard, which he had left outside a restaurant on Route 22. The item was valued at about $150. 

Resident Reports Harassment

A resident of Belvedere Drive reported being a victim of harassment on Wednesday, June 20. She stated that a family relative has sent her several emails and text messages stating negative things about her.

Criminal Mischief Reported at School

A custodian at Park Middle School reported Wednesday, June 20, that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged the window of a school bus that was parked in the school's parking lot. 

Warrant Arrests

Police arrested Gary Jones, 50, of Plainfield, for a $425 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. On Wednesday, June 20, officers stopped Jones for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

The following day, police arrested Josue Arriaza, 23, of Newark, for a $750 outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. Officers stopped Arriaza for a motor vehicle violation on Westfield Road and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
