Blotter Brief: Scotch Plains Man Arrested for Obstruction of Justice

The man shoved an officer and tried to flee, police say.

Scotch Plains police arrested Joseph Guerriero, 57, of Front Street, for obstruction of justice Wednesday, July 7.

Detective Jason Everitt was on patrol in an unmarked car when he observed Guerriero walking in the middle of the street and yelling, Detective Lieutenant Brian Donnelly, the department's public information officer, said in a phone interview. As a woman and child walked past on the sidewalk, Guerriero started screaming at them, Donnelly said.

Everitt exited the car and approached Guerriero. When he asked the man what was wrong, "he tried to shove away and take-off running," Donnelly said.
