Blotter: Car Burglary Tops SP Police Reports

The following arrest information was supplied by the Scotch Plains Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A resident of Edgewood Terrace reported being a victim of burglary last Wednesday, July 13, according to a press release distributed by the . The victim stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle, which was unlocked and parked in his driveway, and removed a radar detector valued at about $450.

Residents Report Theft

A resident of Beryllium Road reported being a victim of theft. On Monday July 11, he stated that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects removed about $3,000 in copper tubing from his yard.

The following day, a resident of Berkeley Heights who parked her convertible in the Municipal Building parking lot told police that an unknown suspect or suspects removed a bag from the vehicle. The bag was left on the front seat of the car, and the convertible's top was down. The bag contained an undetermined amount of cash.

On Thursday, July 14, a resident of Prospect Avenue reported being a victim of theft. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects removed plumbing supplies from the front of his house. 

Businesses Report Fraud, Criminal Mischief

The manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of fraud. On Tuesday, July 12, he stated that an unknown suspect or suspects purchased $20-worth of gas with a counterfeit bill.

On Friday, July 15, the owner of a park Avenue business reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged a box that is in the back of his store.

Hit and Run

A driver on Route 22 reported being a victim of a hit-and-run. On Sunday, July 17, he stated that he was traveling at night when an unknown vehicle sideswiped his car and continued going at a high rate of speed.

Warrant Arrests

Police arrested Adevale Odunade, 24, of North Plainfield, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. On Wednesday, July 13, officers stopped Odunade for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

On Thursday, July 14, police arrested Dolando Harper, 47, of Irvington, for a $289 outstanding warrant issued by the Mountainside court. Officers stopped Harper for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
