Blotter: Fanwood Makes Disorderly Persons Arrest and Four Others

Police activity in the borough from Aug. 3 through Aug. 9.

Police arrested a Fanwood resident on a disorderly persons charge last Saturday. At 6:50 p.m., officers found David Wood, 49, slumped over the steering wheel of his car, parked in the 20-block of Carsam Street, Fanwood detective Eugene Chin said in a phone interview.

"Wood said that he was resting," Chin said, "then became combative." Wood did not answer the officers' questions, then shoved one of the officers and tried to drive away. The officers quickly apprehended him and transported him to police headquarters, Chin said.

Wood was ultimately transported to Overlook Hospital. It looked "as if he fell a couple times," Chin said. "He said he fell outside of Fanwood…. He had a scrape on his forehead and arms."
