Blotter: Fanwood Police Investigate Midway Robbery

Police activity in the borough Feb. 21-28.

The is investigating a residential burglary that occurred Tuesday, March 1 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the 100-block of Tillotson Road, according to an announcement posted on the department's website. There was no forced entry into the house, and officers lifted physical evidence from the scene, the announcement stated. Witnesses reported observing an unfamiliar black pickup truck in the area during the time of the burglary. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department by calling 908-322-5000.

The department also announced Feb. 28 that it had identified a "person of interest" in the robbery that occurred the evening of Feb. 24 on Midway Avenue at Farley Avenue. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Eugene Chin by calling 908-322-5000, ext. 119.

Thursday, Feb. 24:

  • Police arrested Seymour Wallace, 40, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Somerset County Sheriff's Office. At 4:58 p.m., officers stopped Wallace at Terrill Road and North Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to Somerset County.

Saturday, Feb. 26:

  • Police arrested a 17-year-old Plainfield resident who was accused of stealing from a business in the 100-block of South Avenue. At 3:19 p.m., officers responded to the reported theft and, upon arrival, were advised by the store manager that a juvenile employee had stolen merchandise valued at about $104. Officers charged the alleged perpetrator with theft. The complaints are pending a Family Court hearing in Elizabeth. 

Sunday, Feb. 27:

  • Police arrested Paul Head, 23, of Scotch Plains, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. At 8:18 p.m., officers stopped Head at South Avenue and Terrill Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
