Blotter: Five Arrests and Seven Crimes Reported in Scotch Plains

Police activity in the township from Aug. 2 through Aug. 8.

Police arrested two Manville residents last Friday during a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Keith Hamrah, 26, the driver, was arrested for providing false information to a police officer and unlawful possession of a weapon. Anthony Boehler, 22, was arrested for a $1,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Bridgewater court. 

During the stop, Hamrah stated that he did not have any identification on him and gave officers a false name, police said. After an investigation, officers determined Hamrah's true name and placed him under arrest. While conducting a search, they also found a folding knife in Hamrah's possession. Police transported him to headquarters, where he was processed. He was unable to post his $3,500 bail, and subsequently transported to Union County Jail.

A resident of Lenape Way reported being a victim of burglary. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle, which was unlocked and parked in his driveway. Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed an undetermined amount of cash. Police are investigating.

Tuesday, Aug. 3:

A resident of Mountain Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects scratched the hood of his vehicle, which was parked in the street in front of his house.

Wednesday, Aug. 4:

A resident of Burnham Road reported being a victim of burglary. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered her vehicle, which was unlocked and parked in her driveway. Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed a GPS valued at about $150.

Thursday, Aug. 5:

A resident of Country Club lane reported being a victim of theft. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects took his motorcycle, which was parked in the parking lot of his building. The motorcycle was valued at about $7,000.

A resident of Washington Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. She stated than an unknown suspect or suspects made a $6,900 purchase at a store without her authorization. She said she does not know how the suspect or suspects obtained her credit card number.

A resident of Westfield Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. He stated that an unknown suspect or suspects made a $500 purchase at a store without his authorization. He said he does not know how the suspect or suspects obtained his credit card number.

Friday, Aug. 6:

A resident of Maddaket Road reported being a victim of burglary. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle, which was unlocked and parked in his driveway. Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed an undetermined amount of cash.

Police arrested Curtis Williams, 20, of Edison, for possession of marijuana. Officers stopped Williams at Rahway Road for a motor vehicle violation. Upon further investigation, they found he was in possession of the drug. Williams was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Police arrested Nicholas Sorice, 25, of Colonia, for theft and possession of heroin. A resident of Lake Avenue contacted the police to report that an unwanted house guest had just taken jewelry and left. Officers stopped Sorice on foot at Raritan Road and Quimby Lane. After an investigation, they found him in possession of the stolen jewelry and heroin. Police transported him to headquarters, where he was processed. He was unable to post his $30,000 bail, and subsequently transported to Union County Jail.

Saturday, Aug. 7:

Police arrested Malcolm Bradley, 20, of Edison, for a $75,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Edison court. Officers stopped Bradley on Rahway Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. Police transported him to headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Edison Police Department.
