Blotter: FW Police Arrest 17 on Warrants

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fanwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A South Plainfield man was arrested for criminal trespass last Sunday, Aug. 7, according to a press release distributed by the . 

At 12:10 p.m., officers responded to a store in the 100-block of South Avenue on a report of a trespasser. Officers spoke with the manager, who pointed out Aunda Stanley, 47, as the person who had been told not to come into the store. 

The officers placed Stanley under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released pending a court date.

Burglary

  • A resident in the 60-block of Hunter Avenue told police that sometime between 9 p.m. July 25 and 7 a.m. July 26, an unknown suspect or suspects apparently rifled through two of the resident's vehicles, which were unlocked and parked in the street. Nothing was reported stolen.

Theft

  • A resident of Cray Terrace reported July 27 that an unknown suspect or suspects stole a bicycle from the front of his house. The incident is believed to have occurred between 4 and 7:23 p.m. The bike was valued at about $200.

Criminal Mischief

  • A resident of Coriell Avenue reported that an unknown suspect or suspects damaged the roof of her vehicle. The incident is believed to have occurred between July 25 at 3:30 p.m.m and July 27 at 11 a.m.

Warrant Arrests

  • Police arrested Cynthia Gilk, 48, of Manchester, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Tinton Falls court. On July 25 at 2:57 p.m., officers stopped Gilk at Terrill Road and North Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • On July 26, police arrested Robert Thompson, 44, of Plainfield, for outstanding warrants issued by the Plainfield and Glen Ridge Courts. Officers also arrested Lawrence Howell, 51, of Plainfield, for an outstanding, no-bail warrant issued by the Union County Superior Court. At 9:54 a.m., the officers stopped Thompson and Howell at Morse Avenue and Westfield Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. Thompson was turned over to the Plainfield Police Department, Howell to the Union County Sheriff's Office. 
  • The following day, police arrested Kevin Smithwrick, 57, of Scotch Plains, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. At 11:02 a.m., officers stopped Smithwrick at South Avenue and Martine Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • On July 27, police arrested Barry Robinson, 47, of Plainfield, for hindering apprehension and outstanding warrants issued by the Plainfield and Newark Courts. At 1:10 p.m., officers stopped Robinson at Martine Avenue and Pleasant Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. Robinson allegedly gave the officers a false name. Upon further investigation, the officers discovered the warrants. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Plainfield Police Department.
  • Later that day, police arrested Willie Nesmith, 38, of Scotch Plains, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Essex County Superior Court. At 5:33 p.m., officers stopped Nesmith for a motor vehicle violation in the 70-block of Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Essex County Sheriff's Office.
  • On July 28, police arrested Bryant Kennedy, 33, of Plainfield, for outstanding warrants issued by Middlesex County, Plainfield and Newark. Officers stopped Kennedy at Terrill Road and East Second Street for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Plainfield police departments.
  • On July 29, police arrested Kunwar Singhbaba, 27, of Westfield, for hindering apprehension and an outstanding warrant issued by the Cranford court. At 7 p.m., officers were conducting an investigation in the 70-block of Martine Avenue when they came across Singhbaba, who gave them a false name. When the officers learned Singhbaba's actual identity and discovered the active warrant, they transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • On July 30, police arrested Louvenia Harris, 50, of Somerset, for an outstanding warrant issued by the East Windsor court. At 10:17 a.m., officers stopped Harris at Terrill Road and East Second Street for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • The following day, police arrested Moses Howard, 64, of Jersey City, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Irvington court. At 12:52 p.m., officers stopped Howard at Martine Avenue and Pleasant Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Irvington Police Department.
  • On Aug. 1, police arrested Tasha White, 37, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. At 12:32 p.m., officers stopped White at South Avenue and Terrill Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and turned over to the Scotch Plains Police Department.
  • The next day, police arrested Thomas Baluka, 33, of North Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Union court. At 9:53 a.m., officers stopped Baluka at South Avenue and First Street for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • On Aug. 3, police arrested Lance Branch, 41, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Montclair court. At 12:32 p.m, officers stopped Branch at Terrill Road and Paterson Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • On Aug. 5, police arrested Jeffrey Sobers, 43, of Plainfield, for hindering apprehension and an outstanding warrant issued by the Union County Superior Court. At 9:26 a.m., Sobers was stopped by officers in the 40-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and gave them a false name. Upon learning Sobers' actual identity and discovering the warrants, the officers placed him under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Union County Jail.
  • Also on Aug. 5, police arrested Naikimah Dashiell, 31, of Newark, for outstanding warrants issued by the East Orange, Irvington and Newark courts. At 4:58 p.m., officers stopped Dashiell at South Avenue and Terrill Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • On Aug. 6, police arrested Darryl Wiggins, 25, of Roselle, for outstanding warrants issued by the Essex County and Newark courts. At 2:06 p.m., officers stopped Wiggins at LaGrande Avenue and Beech Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Essex County Sheriff's Department.
  • Also on Aug. 6, police arrested Alex Kargbo, 54, of East Orange, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Jersey City court. At 7:37 p.m., officers stopped Kargbo at Terrill Road and South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
