Blotter: FW Police Arrest Roselle Park Man for DWI

Police activity in the borough April 4-15.

The arrested a Roselle Park man on Sunday, April 17, for driving while intoxicated. At 12 a.m., officers stopped Efrain Bolanos-Molina, 26,  at South Avenue and Hetfield Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and, upon speaking with him, detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from his vehicle. After administering several field sobriety tests, which Bolanos-Molina failed, they transported him to police headquarters, where they determined that he also had an immigration detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The officers processed Bolanos-Molina and transferred him to the Union County Jail pending pickup by ICE.

Monday, April 4:

  • Police arrested a 15-year-old Fanwood resident and 16-year-old Scotch Plains resident for possession of marijuana. At 10:05 p.m., an officer on routine patrol was checking LaGrande Park when he observed the two juveniles sitting on bleachers after hours. While questioning the juveniles, the officer observed a pouch under the area they were sitting. Inside the pouch was a quantity of what appeared to be marijuana. The officer placed the two minors under arrest and transported them to police headquarters, where they were processed and released to their parents. Both have an appearance in Family Court in Elizabeth.

Thursday, April 7:

  • Police arrested Autumn Terry, 22, of Fanwood, for driving while intoxicated. At 2:23 a.m., officers stopped Terry at South Avenue and Terrill Road for a motor vehicle violation and, upon speaking with her, detected the strong odor of alcohol. After administering several field sobriety tests, which Terry failed, the officers transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released to a responsible party.
  • Police arrested Drew Miller, 25, of Bushkill, Pa., for an outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. At 11:11 a.m., officer stopped Miller in the 400-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Friday, April 8:

  • A Newark-based recycling company reported being a victim of theft. It stated that used cooking oil had been stolen from a locked storage container that it owns on Martine Avenue. The oil was valued at about $700.

Sunday, April 10:

  • A resident of Oak Court reported being a victim of attempted burglary. He stated that he found pry marks on the front door of his house. No entry was gained. The incident is believed to have occurred between Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m., and Sunday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m.
  • A resident in the 30-block of Estelle Lane reported being a victim of burglary. He stated that between Friday, April 8 at 6 a.m., and Sunday, April 10, at 10 p.m., an unknown suspect or suspects pried open the rear window of his house and stole some cash. Both the Oak Court and Estelle Lane burglaries remain under investigation.

Monday, April 11:

  • A contractor working on a house in the 400-block of LaGrande Avenue reported being a victim of theft. He stated that an unknown suspect or suspects stole tools and scrap metal from the job site. The items were valued at about $350.
  • Police arrested Richard Cooper, 27, of Basking Ridge, for outstanding warrants issued by the Scotch Plains and Morristown courts. At 12:10 a.m., officer stopped Cooper at Midway Avenue and Forest Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Tuesday, April 12:

  • Police arrested David Crawford, 29, of Linden, for outstanding warrants issued by the Union County Sheriff's Office and Union Township. At 3:47 p.m., officers stopped Crawford at South Avenue and Old South Avenue East for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrants. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the sheriff's department.
  • Police arrested Elcida Santana, 28, of North Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. At 10:35 p.m., officers stopped Santana in the 100-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Wednesday, April 13:

  • Police arrested Geovani Reyes, 39, of Plainfield, for hindering his apprehension and an outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. At 12:16 p.m., officers stopped Reyes in the 60-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation, whereupon Reyes told the officers that he did not have any identification and gave them a false name. Upon further investigation, officers determined Reyes' identity and discovered the Plainfield warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Ulysses Gonzalez, 22, of North Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. At 5:08 p.m., officers stopped Gonzalez at South Avenue and Second Street for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Plainfield Police Department.

Friday, April 15:

  • Police arrested Davion Williams, 33, of Newark, for hindering his apprehension and an outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. At 3:06 p.m., officers stopped Williams at Terrill Road and Cottage Way for a motor vehicle violation, whereupon Williams told officers that he did not have any identification and gave them a false name. Upon further investigation, officers determined Williams' identity and discovered the Fanwood warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Omar Rhottis, 34, of Ozone Park, N.Y., for an outstanding warrant issued by the Passaic court. At 9:10 p.m., offers topped Rohttis in the 30-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he wasp recessed and released.
