Blotter: FW Police Investigate Willoughby Road Burglary

Police activity in the borough March 2-13.

A resident in the 100-block of Willoughby Road reported being a victim of burglary Friday, March 11. He stated that sometime between 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 9 and 7 p.m. March 11, an unknown suspect or suspects forced open the rear sliding glass door of his home and stole jewelry and cash. The incident remains under investigation.

Wednesday, March 2:

  • A resident in the 300-block of North Avenue reported being a victim of theft. She stated that she is missing jewelry from her house, and suspects that her home healthcare worker may be involved. The jewelry is valued at $1,300. The incident remains under investigation.

Tuesday, March 8:

  • Police arrested Derrick Sherin, 48, of Roselle, for a no-bail warrant issued by Union County Superior Court. At 12:39 p.m., officers stopped Sherin at South Avenue and Terrill Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and turned over to the Union County Sheriff's Office.  
  • Police arrested Chet Patterson, 41, of Garwood, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Garwood court. At 4:39 p.m., officers stopped Patterson in the 300-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released. 

Wednesday, March 9:

  • Police arrested Claire Valihard, 60, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officers stopped Valihard in the 30-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Thursday, March 10:

  • Police arrested Kimberly Singleton, 35, of South Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Garwood court. Officers stopped Singleton at Midway Avenue and Russell road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Friday, March 11:

  • A contractor went to police headquarters to report that he had received a bad check. The victim reported that he had performed work for a contractor in Fanwood and that he received a check for $3,800 as payment, but that the check bounced. The incident remains under investigation. 
  • Police arrested Chante Rokins, 23, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Woodbridge court. officers stopped Rokins at Midway Avenue and Forest Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released. 

Sunday, March 13:

  • Police arrested Michael Tucker, 49, last known address of Toms River, for trespassing and an outstanding warrant issued by the Wall Township court. At 11:03 a.m., officers responded to the 60-block of South Avenue on a report of a suspicious vehicle. There, they found Tucker, who stated that he was homeless and sleeping in the vehicle. Officers subsequently discovered, however, that the vehicle did not belong to him, and also learned of the warrant issued by Wall. They arrested and transported Tucker to police headquarters, where he was processed and transported to the Union County Jail pending a court hearing. 
  • Police arrested Harry Gray, 69, of Elizabeth, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. Officers stopped Gray at Martine Avenue and Belvidere Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
