Blotter: Marijuana Arrest Tops FW Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fanwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The arrested Tyler Mangaiello, 24, of Mountainside, for possession of marijuana on Monday, May 23, according to the department's website.

At 12:06 p.m., officers stopped Manganiello in the 200-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and, while speaking with him, detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Upon being asked to step from the vehicle and sign a search-consent form, Manganiello told the officers that there was a quantity of marijuana located in the car's center console. The officers recovered the drug, placed Manganiello under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released pending a court date. 

Business Reports Criminal Mischief

The owner of a landscaping company in the 40-block of South Avenue reported that an unknown suspect or suspects broke one of his truck's windows. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday, May 28, and Tuesday, May 31.

Bicycle Theft

Police received a report Tuesday, May 31, that a locked bicycle was stolen from the south side of the . The incident is believed to have occurred sometime that morning between 7 and 8:49 a.m.

Fake IDs

Police arrested Raymond Thek, III, of Scotch Plains, for possession of a false government document. At 11:18 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, officers stopped Thek at Terrill Road and Kempshall Terrace for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with Thek, the officers discovered that he had two drivers licenses, one of them fake. They arrested Thek and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Resident Reports Illegal Dumping

A resident of Farley Avenue reported Saturday, May 28, that an unknown suspect or suspects had illegally dumped two mattresses and two box springs at the corner of Farley Avenue and Stewart Place. 

Warrant Arrests

An officer on routine patrol at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, May 29, discovered a "disorderly person" on the south side of the Fanwood Train Station. A check of the person's identification revealed a no-bail warrant issued by the Union County Superior Court for civil contempt. The person, Charles Ohanlan, 62, of Roselle, was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, and turned over to the Union County Sheriff's Department.

Police arrested Vonetta Hunter, 48, of North Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Watchung court. At 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, offers stopped Hunter in the 10-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Two days later, police arrested Jevon Oneal, 20, of Newark, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. At 8:38 p.m., officers stopped Oneal at South Avenue and Second Street for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

On Sunday, May 29, police arrested Travis Cassett, 20, of Westfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. At 3:35 p.m., officers stopped Cassett at Midway Avenue and Paterson Road for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
