Blotter: Obstruction Arrest Tops SP Police Activity

The following arrest information was supplied by the Scotch Plains Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Scotch Plains officers arrested a Brooklyn man for obstruction of justice on Sunday, July 10, according to a press release distributed by the department. The officers stopped Sadiki Francis, 27, for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22. Francis, however, allegedly refused to answer any questions or hand over his driver's license. The officers placed him under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Resident Reports Vehicle Burglary

A resident of Sycamore Avenue reported being a victim of burglary on Tuesday, July 5. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered her vehicle, which was unlocked and parked in front of her house, and removed about $100 in cash. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles when left unattended.

Criminal Mischief Reports

A resident of Newark Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief on Monday, July 4. He stated that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects drove over his lawn and left tire marks. 

A custodian at School One Elementary School also reported July 4 that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects set-off fireworks in the school's parking lot and left behind a lot of garbage.

On Friday, July 8, the manager of Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club reported that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered the golf course's property and damaged the pump house.

On the same day, a resident of Hunter Avenue reported that sometime during the night, an unknown suspect or suspects broke the driver's-side mirror of her vehicle, which was parked in front of her house.

Residents Report Harassment

A resident of Lenape Way reported being a victim of harassment. On Friday, July 8, he stated that he has received numerous calls from an ex-friend allegedly threatening and accusing him of something he did not do.

A resident of Cooper Road reported Sunday, July 10, that his ex-girlfriend calls him several times a day and yells insults at him.

Warrant Arrests

Police arrested Ha Rhee, 57, of East Brunswick, for a $589 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. On Friday, July 8, officers stopped Rhee for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Police arrested Kiandra Lewis, 28, of Plainfield, for a $223 outstanding warrant issued by the Neptune City court. Officers stopped Lewis for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
