Blotter: Plainfield Man Reports Robbery in SP

The following arrest information was supplied by the Scotch Plains Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The is investigating the reported robbery of a Plainfield resident Friday, Sept. 9, according to a press release distributed by Detective Lt. Brian Donnelly.

The victim stated that at about 11 p.m., he was waiting for the bus at Front Street and Jackson Avenue when a man approached in and demand his money. The victim handed over an undetermined amount of cash, and the suspect then fled the area on foot.

Thefts

  • The owner of a business on Route 22 reported Tuesday, Sept. 6, that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his store and stole several hundred dollars from the cash register. The suspect or suspects gained entry through the front door.
  • On Saturday, Sept. 10, a resident of Park Avenue reported that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects stole his video tripod, which he had left in his driveway.

Criminal Mischief

  • A resident of Hill Top Road reported Tuesday, Sept. 6, that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects smashed the front window of his home.

Fraud

  • A resident of Canterbury Lane told police Tuesday, Sept. 6, that her bank informed her that an unknown suspect or suspects had made several thousand dollars in purchases with her account without her authorization.
  • On Thursday, Sept. 8, a resident of Newark Avenue reported that her credit card company informed her that an unknown suspect or suspects had made several thousand dollars in purchases with the card without her authorization. 
  • On Saturday, Sept. 10, a Jerusalem Road resident stated that a credit card company had called to request that she payer her past-due account. She said that she has never opened an account with that credit card company.

Harassment

  • A John Street resident told police Friday, Sept. 9, her ex-boyfriend has been calling her several times a day and yelling at her. 
  • Also on Sept. 9, a resident of Mountain Avenue reported that she has been receiving numerous phone calls at all hours of the night from a former friend.

Warrant Arrests

  • James Casson, 22, of Berkeley Heights, $1,000 warrant issued by the Berkeley Heights court.
  • Kevin Harris, 32, of Plainfield, $2,000 warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.
