Blotter: Scotch Plains Resident Robbed While Walking Home From School

Police activity in the township Feb. 21-28.

responded to a report of robbery on Thursday. A resident of Lyde Place stated that while walking home from school, unknown suspects emerged from a Black Nissan Altima and demanded personal property from him. The suspects took two items from the victim, and got back into their vehicle, and drove away. The victim was not physically injured and no weapon was shown.

Monday, February 21st:

  • A resident of Cooper Rd. reported being a victim of harassment. She said she had received a package from an ex-relative who she has a restraining order against.

Tuesday, February 22nd:

  • A resident of Willow Ave. reported being a victim of criminal mischief. She stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) slashed three of the tires on her vehicle which was parked in front of her residence. 

Wednesday, February 23rd:

  • A resident of Coles Ave. reported being a victim of an attempted burglary. She stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter her residence by cutting a screen to the basement window. Entry was not gained.
  • A resident of Balmoral Ln. reported being a victim of harassment. He stated that he has been receiving phone calls and e-mails from an individual that he is involved in a court case with.

Friday, February 25th:

  • The manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of theft. He stated that an unknown suspect ordered $20 in gas and after receiving the gas only paid $10 then drove off. 

Saturday, February 26th:

  • A resident of Mountain Ave. reported being a victim of a theft. He stated that sometime at night unknown suspect(s) removed his bicycle which was left on the front porch. The bike was valued at approximately $800. 
  • Police arrested Isaih Abdullah, 18, of Plainfield for hindering apprehension of prosecution. Officers stopped Abdullah for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Ave. Abdullah gave several different names and a fake driver license. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, February 27th: 

  • Police arrested Marlon Rojas, 26, of Plainfield, for hindering apprehension of prosecution. Officers stopped Rojas for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Rd., and Rojas gave several different names. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released. 

Monday, February 28th:

  •  Police arrested Melissa Martinez, 27, of Plainfield, for possession of marijuana. Officers stopped Martinez for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 west. While speaking with her, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. After further investigation, marijuana was discovered in her possession. She was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
