Blotter: Seven Reported Crimes and Five Arrests in Scotch Plains

Police activity Sept. 6-12.

Police received reports of seven crimes and made five arrests since Sept. 6. Here are the reports: 

Monday, Sept. 6:

  • A resident of Rivervale Court reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that an unknown suspect or suspects scratched the two doors on the driver's side of his vehicle, which was parked in a parking space.
  • A resident of Grant Avenue reported being a victim of burglary. She stated that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects entered her residence and removed about $3,000 in jewelry. Entrance was gained through a backdoor.
  • Police arrested Tiquell Dawson, 23, of Newark, for possession of marijuana. Officers stopped Dawson for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and smelled the odor of marijuana. After further investigation, a quantity of marijuana was found in his possession. Dawson was transported to police headquarters, were he was processed and released.

Tuesday, Sept. 7:

  • A resident of Rolling Peaks Way reported being a victim of harassment. He stated that his ex-wife calls him several times a day and yells obscenities at him.
  • A resident of Lamberts Mill Road reported being a victim of theft. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a small bush, which was a planter in front of the house. The value of the bush was about $220.

Wednesday, Sept. 8:

  • A resident of Seward Drive reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime during the night, an unknown suspect or suspects rang his doorbell and ran away.
  • A resident of Grand Street reported being a victim of fraud. He stated that an unknown suspect or suspects opened a credit card account without his authorization. After the card was opened, the suspect or suspects made about $3,000 in purchases.

Friday, Sept. 10:

  • Police arrested Tayir Pugh, 21, of Plainfield, for a $250 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officers stopped Pugh for a motor vehicle violation on Raritan Road and discovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Anthony Peterpaul, 38, of Hillside, for a $927 outstanding warrant issued by the Elizabeth court. Officers stopped Peterpaul for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Jacquelin Prunty, 22, of Newark, for a $200 outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. Officers stopped Prunty for a motor  vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Saturday, Sept. 11:

  • Police arrested Jason Barthe, 21, of Plainfield, for disorderly conduct. Officers responded to a report of individuals fighting on Park Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers advised Barthe to leave the area, at which time he started yelling obscenities and refused the leave. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, Sept. 12:

  • A resident of Victor Street reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects slashed the tires of his vehicle, which was parked in the street in front of his house.
