Blotter: SP Business Reports Burglary

Police activity in the township May 10-16.

The manager of a Plainfield Avenue business reported being a victim of burglary last Thursday, May 12, according to a press release distributed by the . He stated that sometime the last several months, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his shed and removed cables and wiring worth several hundred dollars.

Tuesday, May 10:

  • A resident of Princeton Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects hit his vehicle, leaving a dent in the driver's side door. The vehicle was parked in front of the victim's house.

Wednesday, May 11:

  • A resident of School Place reported being a victim of fraud. He stated that sometime over the last week, an unknown suspect or suspects removed about $1,000 from his checking account without his authorization.
  • A resident of Willow Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that sometime over the last several days, an unknown suspect or suspects removed about $450 from her checking account without her authorization.
  • A resident of Birch Street reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that sometime over the last several days, an unknown suspect or suspects removed about $600 from her credit union without her authorization.

Thursday, May 12:

  • A resident of Homestead Terrace reported being a victim of harassment. She stated that an unknown suspect or suspects sent her a derogatory letter.
  • Police arrested Curtis Matthews, 36, of Rahway, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Matthews for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Alan Galgoci, 34, of Union, for obstruction of justice. Officers stopped Galgoci for a motor vehicle violation on Mountain Avenue. When asked for his driver's license, Galgoci allegedly refused, started yelling obscenities and attempted to drive away. The officers apprehended and arrested Galgoci and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Friday, May 13:

  • Police arrested Melissa Martinez, 27, of Plainfield, for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers stopped Martinez for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and, while speaking her, observed an open container of alcohol and marijuana residue. The officers placed her under arrest and transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Elizabeth Smith, 23, of Westfield ,for a $339 outstanding warrant issued by the Garwood court. Officers stopped Smith for a motor vehicle violation on Hetfield Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Saturday, May 14:

  • Police arrested Vashon White, 25, of Roselle, for an $89 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped White for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Elle Estrada, 19, of Garwood, for a $121 outstanding warrant issued by the Garwood court. Officers stopped Estrada for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
