Blotter: SP Police Arrest Piscataway Man for DWI Following Single-Car Crash

Police activity in the township from March 28 through April 3.

The arrested Ulysses Exum, 38, of Piscataway, for driving while intoxicated on Friday, April 1. At about 4:30 a.m., officers responded to Westfield Road and Prospect Street for a reported motor vehicle collision, and found that a car had struck a telephone pole. Upon speaking with the driver – Exum, who was uninjured – they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed. They placed Exum, who was uninjured, under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Monday, March 28:

  • A resident of Union Avenue reported being a victim of a burglary. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle and removed an iPod, which was valued at about $300. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in front of his residence. 
  • A resident of Sunrise Court reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime during the last several weeks, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged the side of his residence.

Friday, April 1:

  • A resident of Algonquin Drive reported being a victim of criminal mischief. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects walked across her lawn and left footprints.

  • Police arrested Tanesha Morris, 21, of Elizabeth, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Morris for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Anwar Williams, 31, of Plainfield, for a $755 outstanding warrant issued by the East Orange court. Officers stopped Williams for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Nicholas Dominquez, 22, of Union, for a $250 outstanding warrant issued by the Springfield court. Officers stopped Dominquez for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, April 3:

  • Police arrested Gustavo Arce, 22, of Elizabeth, was arrested for a $546 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Arce for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed released.
  • Police arrested Daniel Drake, 47, of Hellertown, Pa., for driving while intoxicated. Officers stopped Drake for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and, upon speaking with him, smelled a strong odor of alcohol. After administering several field sobriety tests, which he failed, they placed him under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
