Blotter: SP Police Arrest Somerset Man for Steroids Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Scotch Plains Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Somerset resident was arrested for possession of anabolic steroids last Saturday, July 30, according to a press release distributed by the . Officers stopped Marco Lopez, 33, for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and, upon investigation, discovered the steroids. The officers transported Lopez to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Residents Report Criminal Mischief

A resident of Morse Avenue reported on Monday, July 18, that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged her mailbox. 

On Monday, July 25, a resident of Winding Brook Way reported that sometime overnight, and unknown suspect or suspects broke the exterior walkway lights in front of his house.

The following day, a resident of Clydesdale Road stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged her mailbox. The mailbox was valued at about $100. 

On Wednesday, July 27, a resident of Coles Avenue told police that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged the roof of his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway. 

Two days later, a resident of Ashbrook Drive reported that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspect damaged his mailbox, which was valued at about $75.

Also on July 29, a resident reported that while walking her dog on Mountain Avenue, an unknown suspect or suspects drove by and threw liquid soap at her. 

Business Owner Reports Stolen Vehicle

The owner of a business on East Second Street reported on July 18 that sometime over the previous several days, an unknown suspect or suspects stole his vehicle. The vehicle, which was valued at about $2,500, was parked behind the business. The business owner reported that he had also been away for several days. 

Residents Report Theft

A resident of Martine Avenue stated Tuesday, July 19, that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects swiped his bicycle, which was left unlocked. The bike was valued at about $900.

On Wednesday, July 20, a resident of Terrill Road reported that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a decorative sign from the front of his house. 

A resident of Canterbury Drive reported Friday, July 29, that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects stole his vehicle, which was parked in front of his driveway.

Fraud Reports

A resident of Hunter Avenue reported July 19 that an unknown suspect or suspects opened a credit card account in her name and charged about $800 without her authorization.

On Thursday, July 28, a resident of Jersey Avenue stated that an unknown suspect or suspects made about $500 in purchases in her name without her authorization.

Resident Reports Harassment

A resident of Cooper Road reported being a victim of harassment. On Sunday, July 31, he stated that he receives numerous calls from a company asking for his social security number and credit card. 

Marijuana Arrests

Police arrested Yusef Abramson, 31, of Plainfield, for possession of marijuana. On Wednesday, July 20, officers stopped Abramson for a motor vehicle violation on Cushing Road and, while speaking with him, detected the strong oder of marijuana. Upon further investigation, the officers discovered a quantity of marijuana. They placed Abramson under arrest and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

On Friday, July 29, police arrested Reginald Trail Jr., 30, of Elizabeth, for possession of marijuana. Officers stopped Trail for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the marijuana. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released. 

Arrests for False Information

Police arrested Justin Marrar, 21, of Plainfield, for providing false information to a police officer. On Saturday, July 30, after being stopped by officers for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road, Marrar allegedly supplied false information to the officers. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

The following day, officers arrested Chad Clarke, 23, of Newark, for the same offense. Clarke, stopped by officers for a motor vehicle violation, also supplied false information to officers. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
