Blotter: SP Police Make Weapon, Eluding and Resisting Arrests in Single Day

Police activity in the township April 18-23.

The made four arrests last Monday, April 18, including arrests for unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding police and resisting arrest.

Desmond Pratt, 43, of Plainfield, was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon. Officers responded in the early-morning hours to a report of a suspicious person in the Municipal Building parking lot and, upon arriving, discovered Pratt. While speaking with Pratt, the officers recovered a knife in his possession and placed him under arrest. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Shaun Wint, 26, of Jersey City, was arrested for eluding police. Officers attempted to stop Wint for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road, but Wint continued driving and attempted to flee the area. He was apprehended after a brief pursuit and placed under arrest. Officers transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Louis Rosa, 31, of New Brunswick, was arrested for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. Officers responded to Tussell Lane on a report of a suspicious person in a stolen vehicle. Upon arriving, officers spoke with Rosa, who gave them false information and attempted to flee. The officers apprehended and arrested Rosa, and transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Monday, April 18:

  • A resident of Dogwood Drive reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect or suspects broke the front window of his house. No attempt was made to enter the house, and it remains unknown how the glass was broken. 
  • A resident of Algonquin Drive reported being a victim of fraud. He stated that he received a call from a credit card company stating that an unknown suspect or suspects had opened a credit card account without his authorization. 
  • A resident of Prospect Avenue reported being a victim of harassment. She stated that a friend has been posting negative comments about her on Facebook, and has been sending her negative text messages. 
  • Police arrested David Parker, 46, of Plainfield, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. Officers stopped Parker for a motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Tuesday, April 19:

  • Police arrested Edward Dunbar, 37, of Madison Avenue in Fanwood, for a $700 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Dunbar for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • A resident of Highlander Drive reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that an unknown suspect or suspects opened a credit card account in her name without her authorization.

Wednesday, April 20: 

  • A resident of Martine Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that an unknown suspect or suspects withdrew about $5,000 from her bank account without her authorization.

Thursday, April 21: 

  • A resident of Willow Avenue reported being a victim of theft. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects stole an air conditioner, which was left in his driveway. The unit was valued at about $50.

Saturday, April 23: 

  • A resident of Princeton Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects damaged the driver's-side mirror of his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway.
