Blotter: SP Woman Arrested for Obstruction of Justice

Police activity in the township May 3-7.

The arrested Lindsay Hickman, 22, of Morse Avenue in Scotch Plains, last Saturday, May 7, for obstruction of justice. Officers stopped Hickman for a motor vehicle violation on Evergreen Avenue and discovered that her license was suspended and that her vehicle was uninsured, according to a press release distributed by the department.

The officers asked Hickman to step from the vehicle so that it could be impounded, but Hickman allegedly refused and became belligerent, yelling and cursing at the officers. The officers removed Hickman from the vehicle, placed her under arrest, and transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Tuesday, May 3:

  • A resident of Meadowview Road reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that an unknown suspect or suspects removed about $4,000 from her checking account without her authorization. 

Wednesday, May 4:

  • The owner of a property on Plainfield Avenue reported being a victim of illegal dumping. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects left a large pile of blacktop on his property.
  • A resident of Grand Street reported being a victim of harassment. She stated that she has received several messages from an ex-friend regarding her Facebook account.
  • Police arrested Priscilla Reed, 28, of Piscataway, for a $205 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. Officers stopped Reed for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Thomas Pettiford, 19, of Plainfield, for an $800 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Pettiford for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Thursday, May 5:

  • Police arrested Rahkeem Cheeks, 32, of Newark, for hindering apprehension or prosecution. Cheeks was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and, while speaking with officers, supplied them several different names and identifications. The officers transported Cheeks to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Akeya Peteete, 20, of Elizabeth, for an $89 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Peteete for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Friday, May 6:

  • Police arrested Tyrone Coley, 23, of Plainfield, for possession of marijuana. Officers stopped Coley for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered a quantity of marijuana in his possession. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, May 7:

  • A North Plainfield resident reported that his bicycle was stolen from a residence on Hunter Avenue. The bike was valued at about $150.
