Brief: County Dedicates Firing Range

The facility, renovated last year, is named after a retired Elizabeth police chief, who is the father of Fanwood resident and freeholder Al Mirabella.

Union County officials unveiled the new name of the county's recently renovated firearms training facility in Springfield in a dedication ceremony Saturday. The facility, dedicated to retired Elizabeth Police Chief Gene Mirabella, is used by police officers and residents from across the county, .

Union County Freeholder Vice Chairman Al Mirabella, the son of the retired police chief and a Fanwood resident, joined Freeholders Angel G. Estrada and Nancy Ward, Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich, Union County Police Chief Daniel Vaniska and Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow in congratulating Chief Mirabella during Saturday's ceremony.
