Brief: SPF Fire and EMS Units Respond to Four-Alarm Blaze in Plainfield

The fire left at least 11 residents and one firefighter injured, according to NJ.com.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood fire and emergency medical units spent most of Tuesday morning in Plainfield, helping battle a four-alarm fire at a low-rise housing complex on East Front Street. The blaze, which started at about 1:30 a.m. at the Netherwood Village Apartments, left about 11 residents and at least one firefighter injured, according to NJ.com. It burned for more than three hours, but most emergency units did not leave the scene until after 6 a.m.

Firefighters from 15 departments responded to Netherwood Village or provided cover for Plainfield in the event of another fire, according to . At least eight EMS agencies also assisted, as well as Union County Fire Mutual Aid and the Union County Police Department.
