Cash Stolen in Robbery of Tiffany Drugs

The Westfield Police Department

An unidentified man snatched wad of cash from  on South Avenue in Westfield last Thursday, according to Westfield Police Capt. Clifford Auchter.

The suspect allegedly walked into the store during the afternoon, approached the cashier to purchase an item and, when the register's drawer opened,  grabbed a fistful of bills from the register and fled. Exiting the store, the man entered a dark-colored Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV driven by an unknown individual, police stated. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Drake Place.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male roughly 25 to 30 years old, measuring about five feet, six inches in height, and wearing a white coat and red shirt.

He did not produce a weapon during the robbery and no one was injured, Auchter said, although the cashier did try to grab the suspect's arm. The suspect ultimately made off with $56. He did not attempt to steal any drugs.

Officers obtained a video of the robbery that was recorded by a surveillance camera in the store, Aucter said. As of press time, the video was only being distributed within law enforcement circles. The incident remains under investigation by the detective bureau.
