Cats Saved From Basement Fire This Morning

A Fanwood home caught fire early this morning, and while no people were home, two cats were rescued by the Fanwood Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

A fire in the basement of a two and a half story home at 215 Coriell Avenue in Fanwood this morning resulted in no injuries, said Tom Kranz, captain of the Fanwood Rescue Squad.

No one was home at the time of the fire except for two cats.

The Fanwood Fire Department rescued the cats, and after the Rescue Squad administered oxygen, the cats seemed to be alright, Kranz said. Local neighbors took them to the vet to ensure their safety.
