Scotch Plains Police Report DUI Arrests

Weekly police blotter from SPPD includes drug, theft and fraud arrests.

Arrests

Ronald Dixon, 49, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on February 20 for driving while intoxicated. Officer Pearson stopped Dixon for a motor vehicle violation on Cooper Road and smelled a strong odor of alcohol.  After failing several field sobriety tests, Dixon was placed under arrest, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.        

 Jahaad Douglass-Perkins, 20, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 19, for possession of marijuana.  Officer Alvarez-Diaz stopped Douglass-Perkins for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and observed the drugs while speaking with him. Douglas-Perkins was placed under arrest, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

 Antwan Spencer, 39, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 19, for possession of marijuana. Officer Pearson stopped Spencer for a motor vehicle violation on Front Street and observed the drugs while speaking with Spencer. Spencer was placed under arrest, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

 Edmond Avant, 61, of Irvington, was arrested on February 18, for driving while intoxicated. Officer Von Langen stopped Avant for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and smelled a strong odor of alcohol.  After failing several field sobriety tests, Avant was placed under arrest.  Avant was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

 Sean Alfred, 44, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 18, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. Officer Belford stopped Alfred for motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant.  Alfred was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

 Shirley McNealy, 50, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 19, for a $750 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court.  Officer Von Langen stopped McNealy for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant.  McNealy was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Burglary

On February 15, a Jacobs Lane residence was burglarized.  The victim stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) entered his residence.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed several pieces of jewelry worth approximately $300. Entrance was gained by smashing the front door.

Theft

On February 13, a theft occurred at Park Avenue residence.  The victim stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) removed his bicycle valued at $600 from the side of his house. 

 On February 15, a theft occurred at a Bryant Avenue residence resident of Bryant Ave.  The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle which was parked in his driveway.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed a purse worth approximately $300.  Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

 On February 16, a theft occurred at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School. The victim stated that during gym class unknown suspect(s) opened up his bag and removed an iPhone valued at approximately $200.

Fraud

 On February 13, a Hoe Avenue resident reported an act of Fraud.  The victim stated that he received a phone call from a credit card company advising him that an unknown suspect(s) opened up a card in his name and made approximately $1,200 in purchases without his authorization.

 On February 17, a Meadow View Road resident reported an act of fraud. The victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) withdrew approximately $600 from her checking account without her authorization.
