Fanwood Blotter: Arrests, D.W.I. and Possible Burglary

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.


October 22, 2912: At 12:25 PM an officer made a motor vehicle stop at Martine Ave. & Portland Ave. for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Madison. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. The defendant is a Richard James, a 29-year-old male from Summit. 

October 25, 2012: At 2:55 PM an officer made a motor vehicle stop in the 100 block of South Ave. for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Linden. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. The defendant is a Gwendyne Brown, a 46-year-old female from Roselle. 

October 26, 2012: Between 11:30 AM and 12:20 PM a resident in the 12 block of Montrose Avenue reported his house was burglarized. An unknown person entered the house and took jewelery and a safe box.  It was also reported that the homeowners' dog was beaten during the burglary. 

Note: According to the homeowner, her dog was also beaten during the crime.

October 27, 2012: Between 4:00 AM and 9:30 AM a business in the 70 block of South Ave. reported a burglary. At this time it appears nothing is missing.

October 28, 2012: At 3:20 AM an officer made a motor vehicle stop at LaGrande Ave. and Terrill Rd. for a motor vehicle violation. When the Officer was speaking with the driver he could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle to perform some field sobriety tests which the driver was unable to complete. The driver was arrested, processed and charged with D.W.I. and released to a responsible person. The defendant is a Damaris Velez, a 33-year-old female from Perth Amboy.
