Fanwood Blotter: Theft, Attempted Break-in and Arrests

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.


Theft

Between July 26, 2012 & August 19, 2012: 
The victim reported his locked bicycle was stolen from theNorthside Train Station. The value stolen is $500.00 and the description of the bicycle is a Decathlon Sport color Blue.

Between August 10, 2012 & August 13, 2012:
 A resident in the 10 block of LaGrande Ave. reported that she had several boxes on her front porch stolen. The value is $21,000.00. 

Between August 11, 2012 & August 19, 2012:
 
A resident in the 80 block of Montrose Ave. reported an unknown person stole several solar lights from the front of his house. The value stolen is $ 100.00. 

Between August, 17 2012 & August 19, 2012:
A resident in the 20 block of King St. reported an unknown person stole her I-Pad 2 from her house. The value of the I-Pad 2 is $1,200.00. 

August 18, 2012:
 At approximately 5:00 PM a person came into Police Headquarters to report that someone stole his Iphone from LaGrande Park. The value of the phone is $300.00.


Attempted Break-in


August 22, 2012: Between 9:00 AM & 4:00 PM a resident in the 10 block of Lois Pl reported that an unknown person attempted to break into her house. Entry was not gained but there was damage to the door. 


Arrests

August 23, 2012: At 3:03 PM Officer made a M.V. stop in the 200 block of South Ave. for a M.V.violationA check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Newark. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. Defendant is a Sheila Darden, 59-year-old female from Newark. 

August 23, 2012: At 8:03 PM Officer made a M.V. stop @ Hunter & Madison Ave. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Scotch Plains. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. Defendant is a 23-year-old male from Scotch Plains. 

August 24, 2012: At 7:38 PM Officer responded to a disorderly person call in the 200 block of South Ave. Upon the Officers arrival the Officer located the victim who advised the Officer that he was in a verbal altercation with another person. The Officer located this person who became disorderly. The Officer arrested this person and charged him with disorderly conduct. Defendant is a 43-year-old male from Fanwood. 

August 25, 2012: At 2:24 AM Officer made a M.V. stop at Martine Ave. & Watson Rd. for a M.V. violation. While the Officer was speaking with driver he could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The Officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle to perform some field sobriety test, which he was unable to perform.The driver was placed underarrest, processed and released to a responsible person. The defendant was charged with the following charges: Failure to observe a signal, unlicensed driver, D.U.I., D.U.I refusal. The defendant is a Marco Bautista-Benavides, 43-year-old male from Old Bridge. 

August 26, 2012: At 5:38 PM Officer made a M.V. stop at South Ave. & Terrill Rd. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Woodbridge. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. Defendant is a 19-year-old male from Avenel.

August 29, 2012: At 6:28 PM Officer made a M.V. stop at South Ave. & Martine Ave. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Springfield. The driver was arrested, processed and released by Springfield Municipal Court. The defendant is a Bruce Jirinec Jr. 28-year-old male from Linden. 

August 30, 2012: At 12:03 PM Officer made a M.V. stop at Hetfield Ave. & Princeton Ave. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Rahway. The driver was arrested, processed and released by Rahway Municipal Court. The defendant is a Donald Wilcox Jr. 43-year-old male from Clark.

August 31, 2012: At 9:11 AM Officer made a M.V. stop in the 300 blcok of South Ave. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of North Plainfield. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. The defendant is a Daniel Lizzi, 29-year-old male from North Plainfield. 

September 1, 2012: At 1:22 AM Officer made a M.V. stop in 200 block of Midway Ave. for a M.V. violation. A check of the driver shows an active warrant out of Watchung. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. The defendant is a Charles Jones, 48-year-old male from Scotch Plains. 

September 3, 2012: At 4:52 PM Officer on routine patrol in the area of the Fanwood Nature Center located 4 suspicious males in the Center. While the Officer was speaking with them he could detect an odor of burnt marijuana and located suspected marijuana on the defendant. The defendant was arrested, processed and released pending his court hearing. Defendant is an 18-year-old male from Plainfield.
