Fanwood Man Accused of Attempted Homicide in I-78 Road Rage Shooting

A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with an alleged road rage shooting that occurred on Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township, Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said.

Lee Edwin Kish, 65, of Fanwood, N.J., was arrested Friday on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, firearms not to be carried without license, possessing instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief, according to police.

Police said Kish is being detained in Union County Prison in New Jersey. Following the March 13 shooting, police requested help from the public in identifying the alleged shooter.

In earlier news releases, troopers described the alleged road rage incident as follows:

Shortly before 4 p.m. March 13, a 39-year-old Bethlehem woman who was eastbound near the Route 412 exit on I-78 encountered a silver-colored, compact, four-door SUV with New Jersey license plates traveling at about 40 mph in the left lane and swerving close to a tractor-trailer in the right lane.

The woman blew her car horn at the SUV, whose driver responded by giving her the middle finger and taking off "at a high rate of speed."

The SUV then moved into the right lane and slowed down.

As the Bethlehem woman continued east in the left lane and began to pass the SUV in the area of the Route 33 interchange, she heard a loud bang. The SUV then "sped off, again at a high rate of speed."

The woman, who was not injured, pulled over a short time later to call 911.

Troopers who responded found a single bullet hole in her vehicle's passenger side rear door.
