Fanwood PNC Bank Robbed on Saturday Morning

Authorities are looking for a white male, between 30 and 35 years old with a stocky build.

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed the Fanwood PNC Bank on South Martine Avenue Saturday morning.

Fanwood Police said they responded to the robbery after a 911 call at about 11:15 a.m.

The robber, according to police, is a white male, 30 to 35 years old, approximately 5-foot-7, stocky build, approximately 200 pounds. Police said he has brown hair, brown sideburns and a brown beard and was wearing a black coat, black gloves, black pants, a red-orange baseball cap and a blue scarf. (See their photo captured on bank surveillance, above.)

Police said no one was injured and the department and the FBI are investigating. Chief Richard Trigo said the Union County Sheriff's K-9 unit also was called out for the initial investigation.

Trigo could not reveal how much money was taken or how the man demanded the money.

Wouldn't it be pretty difficult to drive a get-away vehicle from that area on a late Saturday morning? Guess all he needed to do was walk out of site of any camera, change his hat and blend in w/ other Fanwoodians. Was/is he stupid, smart or both. I'd suggest the FPD getting the assistance of the SP Police Dept; believe the latter has had practice solving business robberies. At least more than F-wood's traffic ticket vendors.

Damn, and I thought I was bad for going down to Plainfield and wearing my grandpa's fancy "hat." But this really takes the cake.
