Fanwood Police Alert Residents to Neighborhood Burglaries

Chief Trigo stated that an attempted burglary occurred on Waldon Road last night. On January 25, a Tillotson Road residence was burglarized.

Fanwood Police are investigating an attempted burglary to a Waldon Road residence that occurred on Friday, January 27 at 9:07 p.m.  A Tillotson Road residence was burglarized just two days before. No arrests have been made, but evidence has been gathered from the scene of the Tillotson Road burglary, Police stated.

Police Chief Richard Trigo stated that on January 27, at 9:07 p.m., the Waldon Road resident heard an object hit against her house. After peering through her blinds, she witnessed three individuals described as teenagers in her backyard. Upon being sighted, the three suspects fled the scene.

The resident then contacted the Police who began to search the area with a K9 unit, but the scent was lost at Glenwood and Midway Avenue. Fanwood Police then called on the Scotch Plains Police Department and Union County Police who canvased the area to no avail.

Chief Trigo stated that because of burglary that occurred on Tillotson Road on January 25, this incident is being investigated as an attempted burglary.

Fanwood Detective Eugene Chin stated that on January 25 between 7:30 a.m. and 8:05 p.m., a residence in the 100th block of Tillotson Road was burglarized. This is the in a month. The first occurred on December 29 between the hours of 1 p.m. Dec. 29 and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 30.

Detective Chin stated that the residents were not home at the time of the January 25 burglary. The resident stated that jewelry was stolen from the home. Chin said that at this time, the Police do not have a description of the suspects or get away vehicles.

In a statement to Patch Saturday evening, Chief Trigo stated that as of yet, no arrests have been made in either case. However, Police were able to remove evidence from the scene of the Tillotson Road burglary and continue to investigate the two crimes.
