Fanwood Police Blotter: Driver Caught Asleep at the Wheel

The following arrest information was provided by the Fanwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

This release was received from the Fanwood Police Department.

On March 11, 2013 at 11:15 p.m., an officer made a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of Terrill Rd. for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver showed an active warrant out of Scotch Plains. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. Defendant is a Phillis Ifeanyi, 53, from Roselle.  

On March 11, 2013 between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., a New Jersey American Water Company employee reported a theft of a piece of equipment worth $2,000 from a fire hydrant in front of 81 Woodland Avenue.

On March 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., a business in the 200 block of South Avenue reported a shoplifter took jewelry worth $98.  

On March 14, 2013 at 1:50 a.m., an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle parked in the roadway of LaGrande Ave with the driver slumped at the steering wheel and the brake lights on. When the Officer attempted to wake the driver up, the driver woke up and drove away. The officer finally stopped the vehicle on South Avenue and Algonquin. While the officer was speaking with the driver he could detect a strong odor of an alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest, processed, charged with driving while intoxicated and released to a responsible person. Defendant is a Orlando Prode, 44, from Garwood.

On March 15, 2013, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Hunter Avenue reported an attempted burglary to the house. The home owner reported the back window screen was cut and there were pry marks on the window, but no entry to the house was gained.  

On March 15, 2013, a resident in the 180 block of King Street reported jewelry missing from their house. The incident is being investigated.  

On March 17, 2013 at 4:17 p.m., an officer made a motor vehicle stop at LaGrande Avenue and Brohm Place for a motor vehicle violation. A check of the driver showed an active warrant out of Plainfield. The driver was arrested, processed, posted bail and released. A passenger in the vehicle was also checked and had an active warrant out of Scotch Plains. The passenger was arrested, processed, posted bail and released also. Defendants are Daniel Lennon, 23, from Plainfield and Natalia Blanco, 27, from Plainfield.
