Fanwood Police Find, Return Bike Allegedly Stolen From Train Station

Drew Miller, 28, from Fanwood was charged with receiving stolen property, police say.

On New Year's Eve, Fanwood Police received a report of a bicycle stolen from the north side of the train station, but spotted and arrested the thief hours later, police say. 

According to police reports, the man reported that between 6:15 a.m. and when he returned at 7:10 p.m. an unknown person removed his locked bicycle from the bicycle stand. The value of the bicycle he reported to be $500. 

At 10:40 p.m. that evening, an officer stopped a male riding a bicycle in the area of Watson Road and Hunter Avenue for numerous traffic violations, police report.

Upon a closer look, the officer noticed the bicycle matched the description of the one reported stolen from the train station. The victim was notified to respond to the scene to identify the bicycle, police say.

The defendant is Drew Miller, 28, from Fanwood. He was arrested, processed and charged with receiving stolen property with a pending court date.
