Fanwood Police Reports: Dec. 19 to Jan. 4

Recent police activity in the borough.

Fanwood police are currently investigating a vehicle theft that occurred just days before Christmas.

At 12:30 a.m. Dec. 19, a resident of the borough reported that someone had just stolen her car. A police patrol unit in the immediate vicinity chased the vehicle into Plainfield, where it crashed and the suspect fled.

Fanwood police then contacted Plainfield police and Union County police, who searched the area with canines. They were able to located the suspect.

The vehicle was processed for fingerprints, and cops are now awaiting fingerprint analysis results.

Saturday, Dec. 19:

  • Larry Cooper, 52, of Plainfield, was arrested at 8:03 a.m. for outstanding Berkeley Heights, West Windsor, South Plainfield, Howell and Bound Brook warrants after a field investigation on the 200 block of South Avenue. He was processed and turned over to Berkeley Heights police.

Tuesday, Dec. 22:

  • A resident of Scotch Plains who was at an eating establishment on the 100 block of South Avenue reported at 11:30 p.m. that she was assaulted by someone she knew there, who was a Clark resident. The woman says the person assaulted her by slapping her and pulling her hair. Police are investigating and charges are pending.

Thursday, Dec. 24:

  • James H. Gabriel, 46, of Fanwood, was arrested  at 9:38 a.m. for an active Clark warrant after a field investigation at the intersection of Midway and Farley avenues. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Saturday, Dec. 26:

  • Patricia Flesch, 56, of Springfield, was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 3:44 p.m. at the intersection of Martine Avenue and Poplar Place. Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident. Flesch's vehicle was towed, then she was processed and turned over to a responsible adult.

Monday, Dec. 28:

  • Peter A. Cardillo, 54, of Marlton, was arrested at 8:40 a.m. for an outstanding Mount Laurel warrant after a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of South Avenue. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Wednesday, Dec. 30:

  • Shakemah L. Lytle-Johnson, 26, of Elizabeth, was arrested at 12:02 p.m. for an outstanding Newark warrant after a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Terrill Road and South Avenue. She was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Keith S. Autocunas, 31, of South Plainfield, was arrested at 12:08 p.m. on an outstanding Cranford warrant after a motor vehicle stop off Midway Avenue. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Sunday, Jan. 3:

  • Christopher J. Braxton, 49, of Aulander, N.C., was arrested at 9:08 a.m. on active Linden, Asbury Park and Newark warrants on the 400 block of South Avenue. He was processed and turned over to Linden police after he failed to post bail.
  • Noel J. Demarsico, 47, of Fanwood, was arrested at 10:32 a.m. for an outstanding Rahway warrant after a motor vehicle stop on the 100 block of South Avenue. Demarsico was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Marcus T. Marcellus, 25, of Elizabeth, was arrested at 3:02 p.m. for an outstanding Elizabeth warrant after a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of South Avenue and Terrill Road. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Monday, Jan. 4:

  • Maryann Robinson, 47, of Plainfield, was arrested at 2:04 p.m. for an outstanding Fanwood warrant after a field investigation on Martine Avenue. She was processed, posted bail and was released.
