Fanwood Police Reports: May 12 to 20

Police activity in the borough last week.

Fanwood police arrested a Plainfield woman last week for providing false information during a stop.

Police stopped Mekeda McCoy, 20, of Plainfield, at 8:33 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, in the 100 block of South Avenue. She presented them with a license that had her picture on it, but contained her sister's information. McCoy was arrested for driving with a suspended license and providing false information to an officer. She was processed, posted bail and was released.

Wednesday, May 12:

  • Juleo Torres, 20, of Linden, was arrested for an active Rahway warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 2:47 a.m. on North Avenue. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Thursday, May 13:

  • Betsy Freman, 23, of Plainfield, was arrested for a Fanwood warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 12:39 p.m. She was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Trina Lamb, 41, of the Bronx, was arrested for a warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 5:16 p.m. She was processed, posted bail and was released.

Friday, May 14:

  • Monique Porter, 47, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. At 12:20 a.m. on the corner of Terrill Road and South Avenue, a patrol officer noticed a driver possibly sleeping. The officer came upon the vehicle and Porter was hunched over the steering wheel. He woke her up and arrested her. She was processed and released to a responsible party.

Sunday, May 16:

  • Anthony Strickland, 23, of Plainfield, was arrested for a Seaside Heights warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 12:02 a.m.  He was processed, posted bail and was released. Also in the car was Curtis Stroud, 30, of Plainfield, who had a Plainfield warrant. He was unable to post bail, so Plainfield officers picked him up. 

Monday, May 17:

  • Gary Jones, 49, of Plainfield, was arrested for a Plainfield warrant. An officer on routine patrol at 9:09 a.m. recognized Jones at the corner of Park and Church avenues and knew he had a warrant out for his arrest. The officer arrested Jones, but he was unable to post bail so Plainfield officers picked him up.
  • Mark Mcnelis, 50, was arrested for an Elizabeth warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 1:07 p.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Chetwood Terrace. He was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Aida Dallatares, 31, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding Fanwood warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 3:19 p.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Third Street. Dallatares was processed, posted bail and was released.

Thursday, May 20:

  • Roman Caldwell, 47, of East Orange, was arrested for Maplewood and Pert Amboy warrants after a motor vehicle violation stop at 11:01 a.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Gere Place. Caldwell was processed, but couldn't post bail. Neither Maplewood nor Perth Amboy wanted to come, so he was released on his own recognizance.
  • Jack Lipsett III, 25, of Rahway, was arrested for an active warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop at 12:53 p.m. in the 80 block of Shady Lane. He was processed, posted bail and was released.
