Fire Causes Smoke Damage to Fanwood Home

The fire began about 7 p.m. Friday.

Fanwood firefighters battled a kitchen fire at a home on the 20 block of Hunter Avenue Friday evening.

The borough's police, fire and rescue squad crews responded to the scene of the fire around 7 p.m. An unattended pot filled with oil on the stove was to blame.

Fire Chief Dave Clausen told Patch they were able to put out the fire immediately. The home did suffer some fire and smoke damage, but it was contained to the kitchen.
