Four Park Middle School Students Treated for Heat Illness

Students became dizzy following unscheduled fire alarm, police say.

Four students at were treated for heat related dizziness early Wednesday afternoon.

Scotch Plains Police Detective Lt. Brian Donnelly said students in the school evacuated the building at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a fire alarm was activated. He said the alarm was not part of a scheduled fire drill.

“The fire department surmised that the alarm went off because of the heat,” Donnelly said in a telephone interview.
