FW Police Catch Teens Partying in Vacant Home

The residents were on vacation at the time.

Fanwood Police arrested eight local teens on Sunday night after someone reported seeing them go into a home where the residents were on vacation.

Police received a call from a neighbor on the 100 block of Willoughby Lane around 8:50 p.m. stating that they had seen individuals go into the vacant house.

When police arrived, they found eight local teenagers in the home, all in possession of marijuana.

Det. Eugene Chin of the Fanwood Police Department said that one of the juveniles was supposed to be cat-sitting for the homeowners.

"She had the key, and was supposed to just watch the cats and not have a party," Chin said.

Rebecca Kaplan, 18, of Fanwood, Shane Sheppard, 18, of Scotch Plains, and Jenna Cepparulo, 18, of Scotch Plains, were all arrested for possession of marijuana. They received summonses and were released.

In addition, five other juveniles were also arrested for possession. They were charged, and then turned over to their parents.
