FW Police Reports: Oct. 12 to 21

Identity theft and car break-ins are among the reports.

Car break-ins continued in the borough last week, with Fanwood police receiving several reports from residents who had their vehicles unlawfully entered.

Sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 12 and 7:30 a.m. Oct 13, a resident of the 100 block of Tillotson Road reported that someone entered their vehicle by breaking the front passenger window and stole a GPS unit, valued at 300 dollars.

Then sometime between 6 p.m. Oct. 14 and 8 a.m. Oct. 15, a resident of the 50 block of MacLennan Place reported that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed personal documents, including a driver's license and various Master Cards. Police are investigating at the locations where the cards were used.

That same evening, between 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 15, someone entered a car parked on the 200 block of S. Martine Avenue. The victim has not yet reported what was stolen.

Police continue to advise residents to lock their vehicle doors and remove items of value from sight.

Tuesday, Oct. 13:

  • James H. Gabriel, 45, of Fanwood, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. for shoplifting from a store on the 100 block of South Avenue. He was processed, issued a summons, and released with a court date.
  • A resident of the 100 block of Farley Avenue reported being a victim of identity theft. The resident stated that several transactions have been placed on his credit cards for purchases he did not make. Police are investigating.

Wednesday, Oct. 14

  • Joseph D. Clark, 26, of Westfield, was arrested on an outstanding Fanwood warrant at 4:32 p.m. at the interesection of South and Old South avenues. He posted bail and was released.
  • A resident of the 100 block Willoughby Road reported being a victim of identity theft. The resident stated that someone has used their personal information to make various purchases with credit cards. Police are investigating.

Friday, Oct. 16:

  • Sometime between 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and 4 p.m. Oct. 18, a resident of the 100 block of North Avenue reported that someone stole a bicycle, valued at 300 dollars, from their driveway.

Sunday, Oct. 18:

  • Deborah M. Rivera, 36, of South Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding Westfield warrant at 2:19 a.m. at the intersection of South Avenue and Terrill Road. She posted bail and was released.

Wednesday, Oct. 21:

  • Eileen A. Bell, 42, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding North Plainfield warrant after a field investigation at 3:45 p.m. on Martine Avenue. She posted bail and was released
