FW Police Reports: Oct. 7 to 14

Several homes suffered storm damage over the past week.

The high winds that swept through the area last week didn't spare Fanwood property.

Police in the borough received several reports over the past week of damage done to homes and vehicles after tree branches fell as a result of the storms.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, a resident of Lois Place reported that a large branch fell onto a pickup truck, causing extensive damage.

Then three days later, a resident of the 300 block of North Avenue reported that a tree fell over and struck a home, causing damage to the roof and garage.

Other than that, police received reports of vehicle theft and arrested several people for outstanding warrants over the past week. Here's a look back.

Thursday, Oct. 8:

  • Sometime between 4 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10, a resident of the 100 block or North Avenue reported an unknown person broke into their vehicle by breaking the passenger side window, and removed a GPS system, valued at $120.

Friday, Oct. 9:

  • Eric M. Ballenger, 32, of Jersey City, was arrested for an outstanding Palisades Park warrant after a motor vehicle stop at 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Midway Avenue. He was processed, posted bail and was released.

Saturday, Oct. 10:

  • Alton L. Jones Jr., 30, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding Watchung warrant after a motor vehicle stop at 1:59 p.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Mary Lane. He was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Ronny M. Eastmead, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding Plainfield warrant after a motor vehicle stop at 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Midway Avenue and Tower Place. Eastmead was turned over to Plainfield police after he didn't post bail.

Sunday, Oct. 12:

  • Stephen L. Detau, 22, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on an outstanding Westfield warrant after a motor vehicle stop at 7:55 a.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Midway Avenue. He was processed, posted bail and was released.
  • Rodney J. Bostic, 56, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding Plainfield warrant after a motor vehicle stop at 5:50 p.m. on the 100 block of South Avenue.  He was turned over to Plainfield police after he didn't post bail.
  • Sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 12 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 13, someone smashed in the window of a vehicle parked on the 100 block of Tilloston Road and removed a GPS system.
