FW Police Reports: Vandalism, Burglary and DWI

Police activity from July 28 to Aug. 4.

Aside from the usual arrests of those with outstanding warrants, Fanwood police dealt with incidents of vandalism and burglary this week. Read below for a complete look at what happened.

Tuesday, July 28:

  • At 11:32 a.m., police discovered that one of the storage buildings at Forest Road Park had been spray-painted on. The incident is currently being investigated.

Wednesday, July 29:

  • At 9:22 p.m., someone smashed in the window of a vehicle parked at a house on Tower Place and stole a GPS device. The crime is under investigation.
  • William Wright Jr., of Plainfield, was arrested on a Union County Sheriff's warrant. Wright was stopped at 10:20 p.m. on South Avenue for a motor vehicle stop when the officer discovered the warrant. He was transported to Union County Jail.

Thursday, July 30:

  • Carlos Trujillo, of Basking Ridge, was arrested on an outstanding West Orange warrant. Trujillo was stopped at 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of North Martine and Portland avenues for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. He was processed and released.
  • Jamiallah Young, of Piscataway, was arrested for numerous active warrants in North Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Springfield and Newark. She was stopped at 8:59 a.m. at the intersection of LaGrande Avenue and Second Street for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. 

Thursday, July 31:

  • At 2:36 a.m., it was reported that someone smashed in the front door of the Fanwood Corner Store at 34 S. Martine Ave. and removed four boxes and 66 cartons of cigarettes. The burglary is currently being investigated.
  • Craig Eddy, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding Scotch Plains warrant. Eddy was stopped for a motor vehicle violation at 8:40 p.m. when the officer discovered the warrant. He was released.

Friday, August 1:

  • David Huff, of Westfield, was arrested for driving under the influence. Huff was stopped at 11:01 a.m. at the intersection of Paterson Road and North Martine Avenue. He was processed, issued several summons and released.
  • Alkareem Thomas, of Newark, was arrested on warrants out of Irvington and Newark. Thomas was stopped at 3:18 p.m. at the intersection of Terrill Road and Stewart Place when the officer discovered the warrant.

Tuesday, August 4:

  • Joseph Spaziani, of Elizabeth, was arrested for a revoked license and an active warrant out of Elizabeth. Spaziani was stopped at 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Old South and South avenues when the officer discovered the warrant. He was processed and released.
