Point Boro Relief Center: No More Donations, Please

Center has no more space for clothes, food or supplies

The Point Borough Relief Center on the former Tally's car dealership lot on Bridge Avenue can no longer accept donations of any kind, officials said on Monday.

The large building and its parking lot are full of non-perishable food, water, diapers, clothing, outerwear, cleaning supplies and firewood for anyone affected by Sandy to come and take for free.

However, there is simply no more room for additional donations, so area residents are asked to please not drop off any more, said Kiel Arnone, Borough Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.

Anyone who has had any flooding, property or car damage, power outage (even if power is back on now) or who has been affected by Sandy in any other way is encouraged to take free items from the relief center.

Today at the Manasquan relief center, I witnessed several people bring in large plastic garbage bags and stuff as many supplies as they could fit in them. it was obvious that these people were not from the area and looked like they were scamming. I also saw a 'merry maids' cleaning car pull up and 3 women went inside and took a bunch of lysol and cleaning stuff. I am not trying to cause trouble but its obvious that there are some bad apples taking advantage of this situation.
