Scotch Plains After Storm Report: Area Received Nearly 12 Inches of Snow

Mayor Kevin Glover releases an after storm report. DPW continues to clear streets.

The following information was provided by the Township of Scotch Plains.

Early reports appear to confirm that we "weathered" the snowstorm well. Approximately 12 inches of snow fell within our community yesterday evening and over night; presently we have no reports of power outages or downed trees. Most streets are passable and our DPW will be continuing their efforts to plow and salt our streets, they expect all roads to be cleared by noon.  I want to thank you all for heeding our advice to stay of the roads which clearly helped facilitate the clean up by our DPW. I also want to acknowledge our entire DPW department for their outstanding work to keep our Municipal roads open and safe, and commend our Police Department, members of our Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Departments for standing ready throughout the storm to help our citizens.

Cleanup efforts will be ongoing, should you have an issue, please do not hesitate to call our snow emergency hot line 908-322 -7100.
Stay safe, and be careful with your own cleanup efforts.

Best regards,
Kevin Glover
Mayor
The Township of Scotch Plains

I'm Holden MaGroin and my street is plowed. Is there any truth to the rumor circulating downtown that councilman Vastine will soon be issuing a statement disagreeing with mayor Glover and saying there was only 11 inches of snow that fell?
Bo Vastine February 11, 2013 at 01:40 PM
No truth to that rumor at all. I agree with the Mayor's statements regarding the tremendous efforts of our DPW, Police, Fire and Rescue. They all did a great job and should be recognized for it. Snowfall amounts seem to also be accurate...LOL.

Deputy Mayor Colleen Gialanella and I were out before 8 on Saturday morning to survey the town to make sure that all of our neighborhoods were taken care of. It was a pleasure to hear our citizens complement the DPW department for their dedicated effort in clearing the snow from our streets. They did an excellent job for which we are all grateful. We also thank our Police Department, Fire Department and Rescue Squad for their efforts as well. - Lou Beckerman
