Scotch Plains Blotter: Fraud, Theft, Arrests and Criminal Mischief

The following information was provided by the Scotch Plains Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.


Fraud

October 1, 2012:  
A resident of Pheasant Ln. reported being a victim of Fraud.  She stated that unknown suspect(s) used her credit card to make several thousand dollars in purchases without her authorization.

October 1, 2012:
A resident of Maple View Ct. reported being a victim of fraud.  She stated that unknown suspect(s) removed several hundred dollars from her checking account without her authorization.

October 3, 2012:

A resident of Raritan Rd. reported being victim of Fraud.  He stated that unknown suspect(s) opened up a credit card without his authorization.  The victim received a bill for approximately $3,500.



Theft

October 2, 2012:  

A patron of a Route 22 restaurant reported being a victim of a Theft.  She stated while she was eating unknown suspect(s) removed her I phone from her table.  The phone was valued at approximately $150.


October 3, 2012:  

A resident of Willow Ave. reported being a victim of a Theft.  She stated that sometime over the last several days an unknown suspect(s) stole the tire air cabs off her vehicle.  The cabs were valued at approximately $26.


October 3, 2012:

 A resident of Terrill Rd. reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) stole the tire air cabs off her vehicle.  The cabs were valued at approximately $200.


October 3, 2012:  

Dennis Berry Age. 54 of Vermont St. Irvington N.J. was arrested for a $1,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Off. Combs stopped Berry for a motor vehicle violation on Park Ave. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.


October 4, 2012:  

The manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of an Armed Robbery.  The manager stated that at approximately 10:00 p.m.  a black male wearing a mask walked up to him and demanded cash.  The unknown male then left on foot with a undetermined amount of money.



Arrests

October 5, 2012:  

A 20-year-old male of Isabella Ave., Union N.J. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Officer Ostrowski stopped Valera for a motor vehicle violation on Sky Top and while speaking with him he observed the marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released after posting bail.


October 5, 2012:  

George Battle Age. 32 of West 5th St. Plainfield N.J. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Off. Rites stopped Battle for a motor vehicle violation on Indian Run and while speaking with him he observed the marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released after posting bail.  


October 5, 2012: 

Oliver Blanco, a 23-year-old of Route 22 Scotch Plains N.J., was arrested for Burglary.  The Scotch Plains Police Department received a call from Fanwood Police stating that they were looking for a suspect that was seen in their town.  Detective Hayeck located Blanco at Park Ave. and Mountain Ave.  After speaking with Detective Hayeck, Blanco admitted to Burglarizing a resident on Prospect Ave. on September 28.  He was processed and transported to the Union County jail after he failed to post his $15, 500 bail.     



Criminal Mischief

October 3, 2012:  

A resident of Park Ave. reported being a victim of Criminal Mischief.  He stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) damaged the side window to his vehicle which was parked in his driveway.
