Scotch Plains Blotter: Fraud, Theft, Harassment and Attempted Break-in

The following information was provided by the Scotch Plains Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.


September 4, 2012:  A resident of North Ave. reported being a victim of Fraud. He stated that he received a call from his bank that unknown suspect(s) removed several hundred dollars from his checking account without his authorization.

September 4, 2012:  A resident of Park Ave. reported being a victim of Harassment.  She stated that an ex-boyfriend calls her several times a day and yells obscenities at her. 

September 5, 2012: The owner of a South Ave. gas station reported being victim of a Theft.  He stated that unknown suspect(s) received $30 in gas and then drove off without paying.

September 7, 2012:  A resident of Valleyscent Ave. reported being a victim of a Theft.  She stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle which was parked in her driveway.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed GPS valued at approximately $250.  Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

September 7, 2012:  Markell Harrison Age. 27 of Baltimore M.D. was arrested for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court.  Off. Lavery stopped Harrison for a motor vehicle violation on Park Ave. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released. 

September 8, 2012: A resident of Maddaket Village reported being a victim of Fraud. She stated that sometime in the last week unknown suspect(s) made several thousand dollars in purchases on her credit card without her authorization.

September 8, 2012:  Brian Lockley Age. 51 of Bergen St. Plainfield N.J. was arrested for a $580 outstanding warrant issued by the Elizabeth court.  Off. Redling stopped Lockley for a motor vehicle violation on South Ave. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released. 

September 8, 2012: A resident of Martine Ave. reported that unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter his residence.  At approximately 2:00 a.m. he heard a noise on his deck and when he went to look he noticed that someone tried to pry the back.
